Karen Sue (Hayes) Parks-Myers of Eureka, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 79.
She was born on March 15, 1940, in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence and Lois (Harris) Hayes. She was raised in Eureka and attended local schools. In December 1955, Karen was united in marriage to Donald “Rex” Parks. They made their home in Hamilton. To this union, two daughters were born. This marriage later ended in divorce.
Karen worked in the school cafeteria at Hamilton while living there and later worked in the cafeteria at Gran Villas Assisted Living in Eureka. On September 21, 1979, Karen was united in marriage to Chester “Marion” Myers in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Eureka. Karen helped Marion with their oil leases, and they enjoyed traveling the country in their motor home. They especially enjoyed their time fishing for trout. He preceded her in death on July 30, 2003.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Eureka and later in El Dorado.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Woodard of Wichita; and Denise Francis of Ponca City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marion; and one grandson, Philip Andrew Francis.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 3, 2019, with Pastor Tim Meyer of the Christ Lutheran Church officiating. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
