Karen Kay Martin
Karen Kay Martin of Eureka, died on December 22, 2013 at Via-Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita at the age of 72.
She was born on November 14, 1941, in Eureka, the daughter of Earl Dale and Betty Lorraine (Bales) Coon. Karen graduated from Eureka High School. After her schooling she moved to Wichita where she met and married the love of her life Thomas L. Martin. They were married on February 27, 1966 in Eureka. The couple then lived in various places before settling down in Hutchinson. Karen worked as a pharmacy technician for the Hutchinson Clinic Pharmacy for many years. In 2007 she moved back to Eureka.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Beets and husband Matt of Bonner Springs; two grandchildren Tyler Beets age 7 and Olivia Beets age 5; her mother Betty Coon of Eureka; sister Linda Downard and husband Darby of Eureka; brother Mike Coon and wife Annie of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her father Dale Coon and her husband Thomas L. Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 30, 2013 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 A.M., on Monday. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name to the Eureka Public Library and may be left in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
