Karen Sue Davis, of Eureka, died on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at her home in Eureka, at the age of 63.
She was born on July 25, 1946, in Scranton, the daughter of Melvin Leonel and Nita (Carney) Jones. She was raised in Scranton, attending Scranton Grade School before the family moved to Wakefield. Karen graduated from Wakefield High School with the class of 1964. After her schooling, Karen was united in marriage to Leroy N. Davis. They made their home in Wakefield. The family moved all over the state with Leroy’s job while Karen raised the children.
After the marriage dissolved, the family moved back to Wakefield. Karen attended Friends University, receiving a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Karen moved to Eureka and worked at Prairie Hills Nursing Home in Eureka and volunteered for several organizations. She retired in 2008 and was able to travel the country while still in good health.
Karen was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Eureka and a volunteer for CASA.
She is survived by one son, Robert W.J. Davis and wife, Mary B. of Casper, Wyoming; four daughters, Vicki J. Sutton of Eureka; Virginia D. Davis of Eureka; Angela A. and husband, Kim W. Zornes of Herington; Jodi L. White and husband Gary Massey of Eureka; twenty-eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald and wife, Bonnie Jones of Neosho, Missouri; and Robert and wife, Michelle Jones of Canyon City, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Cherie M. Roark.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Eureka, with Pastor Jeff Jorgensen officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M., at Scranton Cemetery, in Scranton. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Eureka. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
