Junior Raymond Watts, of Eureka, died at his residence on Monday, August 13, 2012, at the age of 84.

He was born in Quincy, Kansas on February 3, 1928, the son of Charlie Otho and Ruby Marie (Crouch) Watts. Junior was raised in Quincy and attended school there. After his schooling he went to work in the oilfields as a truck driver. His truck driving nickname was “Big Iron”. He retired in 1990, due to poor health.

On August 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ruth Schwintz in Yates Center, Kansas. They made their home in Eureka, then Great Bend, before moving back to Eureka.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of the home, one son, Ronald “Butch” (Connie) Watts of Great Bend, two daughters, Geneva “Sue” Stanley (David) of Russell, and Christina “Chris” Beakey (Kenny) of Great Bend, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one brother Wayne Watts of Wenatchee, Washington, and two sisters, Wilma McAllister of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Wynona Heinz of El Dorado, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the Koup Family Funeral Home, with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

A memorial has been established in his name to Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
