Juanita Natalie Roberts, of Eureka, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the age of 83.
She was born on January 7, 1921, in Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Harry and Minnie Bell (Turner) Bean. Juanita was raised in St. John, Kansas and graduated from St. John High School with the class of 1939. After her schooling she moved to Hutchinson and worked for Cessna Aircraft.
On June 12, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clyde Vernon Roberts in Hutchinson. They moved to California and Washington State for a short time before moving back to Hutchinson. In 1951, they moved to Wichita, and in 1955 to Rose Hill. While in Rose Hill they purchased the Dairy Queen and Hill Topper Carry Out. In 1961, they moved back to Wichita. In 1967, they sold the businesses and the family moved to Andover and started a trailer park. In 1970, Juanita and Clyde moved to Eureka and bought the Fall River Bait House. Then in 1974, they started a hog farm.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Clyde of Eureka, two daughters, Cecelia Marshall of Latham, and Phyllis Sherman of Eureka, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Jackie Bean of Santa Clara, California, and Bobbie Bean of Morland, Kansas, and three sisters, Marcella Savoy and Melba Roberts of Hutchinson, and Shirley Prescott of Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Koup Family Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Fairlawn Burial Park in Hutchinson with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.
