John Curtis Spore of Eureka died on Sunday, January 23, 2011, in Eureka at the age of 42.
He was born on November 7, 1968, in Heidelberg, Germany, the son of Steven and Barbara (Ditmore) Spore. He was raised in Eureka, and attended local schools. He later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University.
On August 4, 1990, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Hayes in Eureka. After his schooling, he worked for the Kansas Parks & Wildlife Department for two years. He went on to be an insurance agent and adjuster for Farm Bureau Insurance, as well as a real estate agent for Premier Outdoor Properties, Inc.
John was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl of the home; two sons, Tyler Spore of Eureka; and Seth Spore of Eureka; parents, Steven & Barbara Spore of Eureka; one brother, Mark Spore of Oswego, Kansas; paternal grandmother, Veva Jo Spore of Newkirk, Oklahoma; and maternal grandmother, Bernadine Terry of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Father Steve Gronert of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Tyler & Seth Spore Education Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Emprise Bank at P.O. Box 588, Eureka, KS 67045.
