John Edward Escareno of Eureka, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, at the age of 65.

He was born on July 24, 1957, in Eureka, the son of Edward Gabriel and Moetta Lee (Herren) Escareno. He was raised in Eureka and attended local schools. He worked in the oil fields travelling throughout Kansas and sometimes out of State. On June 9, 1984, John was united in marriage to Marcia Ann Manzer in Ventura, California. They made their home in California for a few years before returning to Eureka. Together, their union raised and loved their five children. In 2015, he was the recipient of a kidney transplant which gave him a new lease on life.

John was full of pride for all his family, and he always showed his love. He loved being a grandfather, attending every sporting event and being the biggest cheerleader there. He was extremely proud of Greyson’s military service, wearing his USMC shirt all the time. He was very proud of living in Greenwood County, always referring to God’s Country. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Marcia of the home; five children: Brandon and wife, Sara Escareno of Eureka; Lacie Wilson of El Dorado; Ryan and wife, Amanda Escareno of Eureka; Greyson and wife, Ashlee Escareno of Eureka; and Hailey Escareno and partner, Jesse Mullins of El Dorado; 22 grandchildren; and five siblings: Teresa Escareno of Eureka; Katherine Neel of Eureka; Roberta Hawthorne of Eureka; Richard Escareno of Madison; and Thomas Escareno of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Lucy Lynn Escareno.
