Joe Wayne Yost of Eureka, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 82.

He was born on September 21, 1935, in Stockton, Missouri, the son of John H. and Mary Bessie (Hayward) Yost. He was raised in the Stockton and Fairplay area. The family moved to Eureka, and Joe attended local schools, graduating from Eureka schools. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, and was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado. After his discharge, he returned home and on November 1, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol Kay Hollis in Eureka. To this union, two children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce. On February 14, 1995, Joe was united in marriage to Melba (Beye) Spaht in Eureka.

He was an attendant of the Bible Baptist Church of Yates Center.

He is survived by his wife, Melba of the home; two children, Sheryl Maxon of Gas, Kansas; and Kevin Yost of Yates Center, Kansas; three step-children, Dale Spaht, Jr. of Oswego, Kansas; Larry Spaht of El Dorado, Kansas; and Wanda Spaht of El Dorado, Kansas; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Mann of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, John Ed Yost, Eldon Yost, and Robert Yost.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 27, 2017 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Mr. Greg Stewart officiating. Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will follow at Blankinship Cemetery, Rosalia, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O.
