Jesse Virgil Clark, of Eureka, died on Friday, December 11, 2009, at his home in Eureka, at the age of 82.
He was born on July 30, 1927, in Independence, the son of Wilbur E. and Margaret Ann (Randolph) Clark. He was raised in Independence and attended local schools. At the age of 16, Jesse went to work in a bakery. On March 9, 1947, Jesse was united in marriage to Loyette Koger in Coffeyville. The family lived in many different places including Englewood, Colorado, where Jesse worked for 30 years as a baker.
The family eventually returned to Fredonia where Jesse opened his own bakery in 1980. He retired in 1993. They lived in Fredonia until 2003 when they moved to Eureka to be closer to family.
Jesse is survived by his wife, Loyette, of the home; three daughters, Terry L. Jones of Independence; Colette A. Kellar of Bailey, Colorado; and Sonja G. Kennedy of Eureka; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and four sisters.
A private family memorial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
