Jack Stuber of Eureka, died on June 25, 2008, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 64.
Jack was born on October 7, 1943, in Climax, Kansas, the son of Virgil Lloyd “Mike” Sr. and Alice Irene (Moore) Stuber. He was raised in Eureka, attending school in Tonovay where he graduated. Jack joined the United States Army during Vietnam serving his country with honor and dignity. When he returned from the war he started working for the City of Eureka in the Water Department, later becoming the sexton of Greenwood Cemetery. He retired from that position in 2005. Jack loved horse racing and was a member of the Horse Racing Association. He also donated the “Eureka Welcomes You” rock on the west side of town.
On December 23, 1975, he was united in marriage to Peggy Knudsen. This marriage later ended in divorce.
Jack was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2712.
Jack is survived by one daughter, Stacy Randle of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil Stuber of Eureka; and Roger Stuber of Concordia; four sisters, Barbara Butler of Eureka; Sherry Williams of Eureka; Julie Clopton of Olathe; and Peggy Hawthorne of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 30, 2008, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name with the VFW Post #2712. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
