James Wilbur “Jim” Larcom of Reece, died on Saturday, October 30, 2021, in Butler County, Kansas, at the age of 69.

He was born on July 23, 1952, in Eureka, the son of Wilbur Allen and Helen Evelyn (Coynor) Larcom. He was raised in the Eureka area and graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1970. He was the owner and operator of Larcom & Son Construction for over forty years. He ran a grader and dozer most of his adult life.

On December 7, 1973, Jim was united in marriage to Linda Mae Hamilton in Reece. They made their home in Reece and to this union, two children were born.

Jim loved the outdoors. Besides construction he also raised cattle and cowboyed from time to time. He enjoyed his grandchildren but eating out was his biggest passion. There was not a place from Kansas to Oklahoma that he hadn’t tried.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; children, Jamie Dale Larcom of Eureka; and Kristy Joy and husband, Jeff Zimmers of Reece; five grandchildren: Hannah Irene Zimmers, Justin James Zimmers and Cooper Jeffery Zimmers of Reece, and Andyn Tony Larcom and Addison Mae Larcom of El Dorado; brothers, Ted and wife, Myra Larcom of Reece; and Mike and wife, Gerry Larcom of Reece; and sister, Debra Larcom of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Leroy Mayfield.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 5, 2021, at Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka, with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has been effected.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Reece Christian Church or to the USD 389 Athletic Department.
