James Robert “Jim” Denison of Eureka, died on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 81.

He was born on May 8, 1934, in Ponca City, the son of James Richard and Rosella (Wooley) Denison. He was raised in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School. He later attended college for a short time and then joined the United States Army where he served from 1955 to 1962 in Japan and Hawaii, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.

In 1960, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Ann Olson in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Eureka. Jim worked installing carpet and eventually opened Denison’s Carpets, in Eureka, which he operated with his wife, until his retirement.

He was a member of the Eureka Tornadoes Booster Club.

He is survived by one son, Bradley Denison of Norman, Oklahoma; step-son, Dr. Michael McClintick of Eureka; and step-daughter, Tamara Green of Seminole, Florida; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Jon Denison of Joplin, Missouri; and one sister, Brenda Sue Simons of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, and three sisters, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August, 22, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Reverend Kenneth Baker of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
