James Webster “Jim” Criswell, Jr., of Eureka, died on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 79.
He was born on February 26, 1942, in Eureka, the son of James Webster, Sr. and Colleen Helen (Sovern) Criswell. He served honorably in the United States Air Forces during Vietnam in the Philippines before being honorably discharged. Jim went on to work for the United States Postal Service retiring after 26 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and woodworker who enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as building furniture for family and friends. He also continued to support his fellow veterans through the VFW and helping to create the Greenwood County Veterans Memorial.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Debbie Wikso, Tricia Criswell, Amy Huff, Jenifer Criswell; sons, Scot Criswell, and Greg Criswell; sisters, Jill Cook, and Janel Mallerne; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, with Mr. Jayme Koup officiating. Cremation has been effected. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or to Greenwood County Home Health. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O.
