James Hollis Bradbury of Dearing, died peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2022, at his home in Dearing, surrounded by family, at the age of 93.

He was born on October 28, 1929, in Eureka, the son of Delbert Clifton and Dorothy Grace (Criswell) Bradbury. He was raised in Eureka and Wichita, graduating from North High School with the Class of 1948. On July 2, 1950, he was united in marriage to Patricia Elizabeth Purviance. To this union, three children were born: Guy Cris, Holly Ann, and Sherry Sue. The marriage dissolved in 1971. On July 13, 1972, Hollis was united in marriage to Marilyn Rose Oakley in Maryville, Missouri. To this marriage, Marilyn brought her two children: Jacqueline Ann and Charles Henry Peaster, Jr.

They made their home first in Rock Port, Missouri and then settled in Eureka in 1973 until his retirement. Hollis and Marilyn then lived in Ozark, Missouri until 1998 when they moved to Dearing, which was their final home. Hollis worked as an electrician for 42 years, retiring in 1992. Marilyn preceded him in death on June 6, 2007.

He is survived by his children, Guy and wife, Chom Ye Bradbury of Lawton, Oklahoma; Holly Bozone of Dearing, Kansas; and Sherry and husband, Donald “Lee” Griffitts, II of Dearing; stepchildren, Jackie and husband, Scott Lembke of Glenwood, Iowa; and Chuck and wife, Michelle Peaster of Douglass, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Shawna Allen, James C. Bradbury, Frances Sechrest, Cris Samuels, Donald “Lee” Griffitts, III, Marian Deeds, Krystal Truesdell, and Josh Peaster; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; and brother, Grover “Duane” Bradbury.
Per his wishes no services will be held. Cremation has been effected. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka. Koup Family Funeral Home is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
