Jim Beeman
James Charles “Jim” Beeman of Hamilton, died on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Health Care in Topeka, at the age of 67.
He was born on September 28, 1946, in Emporia, the son of Vonzo and Verna Mae (Dowell) Beeman. He was raised in Hamilton, graduating in 1964. After his schooling, he worked on the family farm near Hamilton. On September 8, 1967, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Griffith, and they made their home in Hamilton. Jim worked his entire life ranching near Hamilton.
He was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Kansas Livestock Association, Walnut West Creek Watershed Board, Farm Bureau Board, Janesville Township Board, Greenwood County Republican Central Committee, Greenwood County Soil conservation Board, USD 390 School Board, and was secretary\treasurer and Past President of the Greenwood County Cattlemen’s Association.
He is survived his wife, Sharon of the home; two sons, J. Preston and wife, Jeanna Beeman of Olpe; and Bruce and wife, Stefanie of Moline; five grandchildren: Reid, Tessa, Jorja, Katy, Avery; and two siblings, sister, Edna Mae Birtciel of Emporia; and brother, E.C. Beeman of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Vonie Beeman.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 21, 2014 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Warren Olson of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Hamilton Senior Center or to the Friday Food for Kids at Hamilton United Methodist Church.
