Jackie Lee Kimball of Whitewater, Kansas formerly of El Dorado, died on December 25, 2007, at Wheat State Manor, in Whitewater, at the age of 72.
He was born on June 8, 1935, the son of David Ira and Sylvia Iona (Frame) Kimball in El Dorado, Kansas. He was raised in El Dorado and graduated from El Dorado High School. After his schooling, he went to work for the Skelly Refinery as a crane operator and a rigger. He enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War serving his country with honor and dignity. After the war, Jackie went back to work for Skelly until his retirement in the 1980’s.
He was a member of the Patmos Lodge #97 and A.F. and A.M. of El Dorado and the Arkansas City V.F.W.
He is survived by his son, Scott Kimball of El Dorado, Kansas; daughters, Karolee Weller of Mulvane, Kansas; Kathie Shaw of Nenana, Alaska; and Lisa Johnson of Oswakie, Kansas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Janice Samuels of El Dorado, Kansas; and Betty Kirkpatrick of Peabody, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at Greenwood Cemetery with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. Viewing will be from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home, for friends and family.
A memorial has been established in his name to the Kansas Masonic Home. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
