Jackie Eldred “Jack” Felter, of Eureka, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, at the age of 69.
He was born on February 16, 1936, the son of Earl Harvey Felter Sr., and Meda (Condon) Felter. He was raised in the Eureka area and graduated from Eureka High School. At the onset of the Korean Conflict Jack joined the United States Army and served his country with dignity and honor. Jack worked for various places including Chicago Bridge & Iron, Halliburton, Radco Cement and for Phillips Pipeline retiring in 1986. He owned and operated a bait shop in Fall River before going to work for the City of Eureka before retiring in 1999.
On May 29, 1960, Jack was united in marriage to Sue Lilley in Eureka. The family made their home in Eureka.
Jack was a member of the VFW Post # 2712.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; two daughters, Ceresa Campbell of Eureka; and Rochelle Hole of Overland Park; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three sisters, Linda Gray of Alvin, Texas; Ena Shriver Cooper of Maysville, Oklahoma; and Margaret Nickels of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 2, 2005 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to VFW Post #2712. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
