Jack Calvin Pugh, 72, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died Saturday, December 13, 2003, at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born on July 26, 1931, in Belton, Missouri, to Lloyd A. Pugh and Maude E. (Wilson) Pugh.
He was raised and educated in Eureka, Kansas and graduated from Emporia State Teachers College. He married Esther F. Linden on March 21, 1955, in Eureka, Kansas. He later taught high school American History, and Business, in Augusta, Kansas. In 1960, he began working in educational publishing retiring in 1992 and moved to Belle Vista, Arkansas. He was a member and past president of the Village Art Club and the Bentonville and Belle Vista Lions Club, where he received the “Melvin Jones” award. He also served in the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth L. Pugh.
He is survived by his wife, of 48 years, Esther Pugh of Belle Vista, Arkansas; one son, Michael K. Pugh and wife Alison of Ashburn, Virginia; three daughters Sheryll Gibbens and husband Dale of Wichita, Kansas, Jan Geringer and husband Gary of Wichita, Kansas, Connie Millard and husband Steve of Overland Park, Kansas; and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, Kansas on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Stan Seymour of the First Christian Church of El Dorado officiating. Memorial services will be held at Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Bella Vista Village Art Club Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
