Ira Leonard Weathers, of Eureka, died on Monday, August 30, 2004, at Medicalodge of Eureka, at the age of 90.
He was born on November 7, 1913, in Utopia, the son of Claude E. and Adda M. (Rimmer) Weathers. He was raised in Utopia and attended District 19 and Reece schools. In January of 1934, Ike was united in marriage to Marianna Elliott. She and their son, Robert died in 1942. That same year, Ike entered the United States Army and served his country with honor and dignity during World War II, serving with the 503rd Ordnance company in the heavy maintenance tank division in the United States and Europe.
On September 15, 1962, Ike was united in marriage to Louise Rodenbaugh Gordon in Eureka, where they have made their home.
Ike was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post # 2712 of Eureka.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Phil Johnston of Eureka; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Dr. Terry L. Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name with Greenwood County Home Health. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
