Ioan Susan Hurley, of Climax, died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita at the age of 71.

She was born on July 8, 1940, in Beatrice, Nebraska, the daughter of Robert L. and Verda Edna (Imes) Abner. She was raised in Beatrice, Nebraska and attended local schools. She lived in Augusta, Wichita, and Climax. Ioan was a homemaker.

She is survived by three children, daughter, Rosa Hurley of Albuquerque; son, Todd Goff of Burlington; and step-son, Danny and wife, Debbie Hurley of Eureka; four grandchildren, Jessica, Derek, and Darren Goff, and Timothy Mestas; two great-grandchildren; one twin brother, Ivan Abner of Climax; one sister, Wanda Wilson of Climax; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, and one sister, Roberta Head.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 27, 2012 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Humane Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
