Hettie Marie Myers, 82, died September 26, 2003, at Medicalodge in Eureka, Kansas. She was born on July 30, 1921, in Branch, Arkansas, to Alfred and Hettie Jane (Armstrong) Teasley. She grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma and later moved to Stockton, California in the late 1940’s. She moved to Eureka, Kansas in 1990.
On August 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Raymond S. Myers in Stockton, California.
Marie is survived by her husband, Ray, of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Joe Collins of Jackson, Tennessee, Kathy and Paul Ray of Emporia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond “Gene” and Lynn Myers, of Jackson, Tennessee, Michael and Cathi Myers, of Angels Camp, California, and Jonathan and Janet Myers of Stockton, California, 11 living grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, a sister, and 1 grandson, David Ray.
Marie, after making a careful study of the Bible, dedicated her life to Jehovah God on November 30, 1947. By the example she set and her abiding faith in the Bible, she installed in her children a deep reverence for their Creator. She devoted her life to building in them and sharing with others a strong desire to live according to Bible principles and always held out hope for a future here on earth.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, October 4, 2003, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, in Eureka, with Mr. Gene Smerchek officiating. There will be a private interment. A memorial has been established in her name to the World Wide Work of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
