Henry K. Ford, of Gridley, formerly of Eureka, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Eureka Nursing Center at the age of 94.
He was born on July 30, 1915, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of Marion and Mattie (Sauble) Ford. He attended Eureka schools, and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1933.
In 1935, Henry was united in marriage to Margaret Frazier. To this union one son, Robert was born. Henry and Robert worked together in the Red Owl Office Supply and Pharmacy. Henry later purchased the business.
Henry enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and served his country with honor and dignity in the Pacific Theater. Upon his discharge he returned to Eureka. Margaret preceded him in death in 1969.
On August 31, 1980, he was united in marriage to Corinne Maclaskey. They made their home at Toronto Lake, and later moved to rural Gridley. In 1983, Henry sold the Red Owl and retired.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne, of the home, two grandsons, two great-grandsons, one step-daughter, Peggy Palmer of Osage Beach, Missouri, four step-sons, Tom Maclaskey, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mike Maclaskey, of Auburn, Kansas, Jack Maclaskey of Ulysses, Kansas, and Charlie Maclaskey of Gridley, Kansas, ten step grandchildren, twenty-one step-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his, parents, first wife, Margaret, son, Robert,
two sisters and one brother and one step-great-grandson.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka with Reverend Marcia Eaton officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name to the Eureka Veterans Memorial Flag Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home which was in charge of arrangements at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
