Hazel Thomasine Parks, of Toronto, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the age of 95.
She was born in Toronto on November 17, 1912, the daughter of Thomas W. and Laura E. (Gibbs) Young. She was raised near Toronto and attended rural schools there.
On March 4, 1933, Hazel was united in marriage to J. Arthur Parks in Eureka. They made their home on a farm near Toronto before moving to the Kansas City area. Latter they moved to the Spring Ridge community near Paola. When they retired in November 1970, they retuned to Toronto. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1988.
Hazel was a homemaker, and a member of the Toronto Christian Church, and the CWF.
She is survived by one nephew, Robert Phillips of Lawrence, four nieces, Freda Gibson of Toronto, Lola Thornton of Garnett, Frances Hays of Osawatomie, and Marilyn Sauder of Bella Vista, Arkansas, as well as many great-nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Toronto First Christian Church with Reverend Tony Thornton and Pastor Merlin Enabnit officiating. Interment will follow in the Toronto Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Toronto First Christian Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
