Harold W. “Peanut” Wiggins, of Eureka, died on Sunday, November 20, 2005, at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, at the age of 86.
He was born on September 17, 1919, in Eureka, the son of Fred and Otie (Mitchell) Wiggins. He was raised in the Upper Fall River area. He attended grade school at Holverson county school, and graduated from Eureka High School. After graduation, Harold farmed and worked as a horseshoer and a blacksmith as well as being a cowboy. He later worked in the oil fields.
In July 27, 1943, Harold was united in marriage to Doris V. Albin in Nevada, Missouri. The family made their home in the Eureka area. Doris preceded him in death on February 27, 2001.
Harold is survived by one daughter, Dori Moore-Miller, and husband, Mike Miller of Kansas City, Missouri; one nephew, Jim Gray of Olathe, one niece, Leta Divine of Eureka, two step-grandsons, and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one sister.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Alan Hunter, of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Historical Society, or the Holverson School Preservation Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
