Harold Dean McCormack of Climax, died on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at his home near Climax, at the age of 79.

He was born on August 1, 1940, in Moran, Kansas, the son of Virgil Rex and Laura Mae (Wellman) McCormack. He was raised in Climax attending local schools. He graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1958 and then went on to Southwestern College in Winfield. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Business in 1962. He played various sports in high school and college. After his schooling he began farming and ranching at Climax.

On July 14, 1963, Harold was united in marriage to Linda Lou Brown in Fall River. They made their home near Climax. To this union, three children were born.

Harold was a member of the Climax United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Climax Lodge 411 A.F. & A.M., and served as a board member for Rural Water District #1, Greenwood County Farm Bureau, Farm Service Agency, Fall River township board, and was a past 4-H Leader.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; four children, Teresa Kooken of Cassville, Missouri; Dana Metzger of Burlington, Kansas; Greg McCorcmack of Topeka, Kansas; and Kelly McCormack of El Dorado, Kansas; ten grandchildren: Jason McCoy; Tyler and wife, Macey Barnhart; Allyx Barnhart; Allyson Moon; Kyle McCormack; Krystal Metzger; Lauren and husband, Tyler Bartee; Brailey Metzger; Cannon McCormack; and Kashton McCormack; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn Hendrickson of Brenham, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation has been effected. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Climax Lodge 411.
