Guy Myrl Shumard, died at the Greenwood County Hospital on Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the age of 85.

He was born in rural Eureka on February 23, 1919, the son of Harvey and Gertrude (Rader) Shumard. He was raised in the Eureka area and graduated from Climax High School. After his schooling he began his career in farming.

On April 11, 1948, Guy was united in marriage to Harriet French in Madison, Kansas. They made their home in rural Eureka where they continued farming.

Guy was a member of the Christian and Congregational Church, Lions Club, and the Climax Masonic Lodge. He was a former 4-H leader, Farm Bureau Board Member, Rural Water District Board Member, and FFA Board Member.

He is survived by his wife, Harriet of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 13, 2004, at the Christian and Congregational Church with Pastor Fred Jordan and Reverend Doctor Gilbert Daniel officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his name to the Christian and Congregational Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the church or Koup Family Funeral Home, which was in charge of service arrangements.
