Gladys Miller
Gladys Hulda Marie (Bruns) Miller of Eureka, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at the Eureka Nursing Center, at the age of 88.
She was born on September 27, 1923, in Garber, Oklahoma, the daughter of August H. and Charlotte (Meier) Bruns. She was raised in Oklahoma and later the family moved to Eureka where she graduated from Eureka High School. On November 4, 1943, Gladys was united in marriage to Charles Cash Miller in Saint Louis, Missouri. Charles served in World War II and during that time Gladys lived in Wichita where she worked in banking.
After Charles’ discharge the family resided in Eureka. Gladys worked in the Greenwood County Treasurers Office and the Citizens National Bank. Later they opened their business, Crystal Cleaners, in Eureka. Charles preceded her in death on January 2, 1979. Gladys spent her retirement touring Europe, Asia, and The Holy Land.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church; A long term member of the Eureka Garden Club, which she held many offices, including president.
She is survived by one son, T. G. Miller; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and one brother.
Private memorial services were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 6, 2012 at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka with Pastor Larry Cross officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
