Geraldine Gilmore
Geraldine E. Gilmore of Eureka, died on Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 94.
She was born on July 5, 1920, in Elk Falls, Kansas, the daughter of Ray and Josephine (Smith) Keath. She was raised in Independence and graduated from local schools. On July 30, 1938, Geraldine was united in marriage to Cecil Gilmore in Columbus. She worked in the Parsons Armory during World War II, moving to Independence afterwards. The family later moved to Illinois, where she worked for Illinois Bell Telephone. Upon her retirement, the family moved back to Eureka.
Geraldine was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church, the Independent Order of Foresters, the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #2712 Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a lifetime member of the National and Eureka Bowling Association.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil of the home; son, Charles Gilmore of Eureka; and daughter, Karen Stonebraker of New Castle, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, William R. Gilmore, two brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka. Cremation will be effected following the service. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Friday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Bobbie Brooks Trust Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
