Gerald Earl Broyles of Eureka, died on Friday, March 22, 2013 at Via Christi – St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 87.

He was born on October 3, 1925, in Dresden, Kansas, the son of Willard Earl and Ruth Elaine (Bates) Broyles. He was raised in Dresden and attended country schools. On March 12, 1944, Gerald was united in marriage to Lola Marie Rosenberg. Later that year, Gerald enlisted in the Army, where he served his country with honor and dignity.

He was discharged in 1946, where he worked in trucking and later on oil rigs around the Great Bend area. Eventually he began working construction, which he did until 1964, when he moved to Eureka and began operating Eureka Diesel Service. Lola preceded him in death on July 22, 1996.
On May 23, 1997, Gerald was united in marriage to Mary Ann Hawthorne in Eureka.
Gerald was a member of the New Life Assembly of God, VFW Post #2712, and a Life Member of American Legion Post of Eureka.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; daughter, Shirley Marie Miles of Eureka; son, Lynn Broyles of Eureka; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Doris Clemens of North Platte, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 25, 2013 at the New Life Assembly of God with Pastor Ray Frye officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the New Life Assembly of God. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
