George Terah McCurry, Jr. of Wichita, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at St. Joseph - Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 73.
He was born on March 9, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri the son of George T. and Beatrice Louise (Brayfield) McCurry Sr. He lived in Lamont before moving to Madison, in 1940. In 1960, he moved to Eureka where his parents operated the Eureka Motel at the intersection of Main and River Streets.
On July 5, 1957, he was united in marriage to Iva June Gulick in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They made their home in Wichita. He then went to work at Beech Aircraft in Wichita, until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of the International Machinists Union.
He is survived by his step-son James Atwood of Sedgwick; step-daughter Nancy Schomaker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister Judy House of Kent, Washington; three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Iva, and his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 2, 2006, at Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Koup Family Funeral Home was in charge of service arrangements.
