George Henry Doerr of Eureka, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Medicalodge in Eureka, at the age of 89.

He was born on March 25, 1917, in Rush County, the son of Henry Winter and Polly Ann (Cate) Doerr. He was raised in McCracken, and graduated from McCracken High School. He later lived in York, Nebraska, where he met and married Greta Fay Arbuckle in 1939. They made their home in McCracken, and later Wichita. Greta preceded him in death in 1949. After moving to Eureka, he married Betty Lou McLain in 1950. They operated the Tip Top Motel in Eureka for many years. This marriage later ended in divorce. George returned to McCracken where he lived for 20 years. He returned to Eureka to be closer to his daughters.

He is survived by one son, Terry Jon Doerr of Louisville, Kentucky; two daughters, Lucretia Ann Weatherbee of Eureka; and Linda Cook of Eureka; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one brother, Adrian T. Doerr of Alta Vista; and one sister, Zella Mae Grumbein of Dighton. He was preceded in death by his parents, one wife, three brothers, and one sister.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at McCracken Cemetery, in McCracken, with Darlene Nonhof of the Ness City United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., on Tuesday, at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka.
