Keith Clopton of Eureka, died on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka at the age of 82.

Keith was born on December 6, 1927 in Madison, Kansas the son of Jay and Mildred (Lamureux) Clopton. He was raised in Madison and attended local schools. Keith later joined the Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. After his service he worked on the family farm and later worked for KPL. Keith later became self-employed working his landscaping and cleaning businesses.

On December 6, 1947 he was united in marriage to Melba Bowers in Emporia and they made their home in Eureka.

Keith was a member of the Christian and Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife, Melba of the home; six children, Pamela Gordon of Wichita, Kansas, Larry Clopton of Basehor, Kansas, Terry Clopton of Springfield, Mo., Gary Clopton of Augusta, Kansas, Kerry Moore of Eureka, Kansas and Barbara Clopton of Springfield, Oregon; twenty grandchildren and forty-six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Turner of Emporia, Kansas and Carolee Clopton of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister and one grandchild.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Reverend Rhonda Almond presiding. Internment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name to the VFW Post #2712 and may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
