Geneva O. Broddle, of Wichita, formerly of Eureka, died on July 6, 2008, at Presbyterian Manor in Wichita at the age of 93.

She was born on April 6, 1915, in Piedmont, the daughter of Elwin Craig and Jessie Valeria (Moyer) Johnson. She was raised in the Piedmont/Eureka area attending Star Elementary and graduating from Piedmont High School. Geneva was a homemaker and mother.

On August 6, 1936, she was united in marriage to Bernard Austin Broddle in Newton. They made their home in the Piedmont/Eureka area. They then moved into town in 1961. Bernard preceded her in death on October 27, 1988.

Geneva was a member of the Christian and Congregational Church, HDU and volunteered for the hospital auxiliary. She was a Greenwood County Historical Society board member, and well as an attendee of the Poet Society. She was an avid quilter making full quilts for all of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Dwayne Broddle of Wichita; daughter, Elaine and husband, Harry Lee Martin of Wichita; six grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Reverend Rhonda Almond of the Christian & Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her name to the Eureka Public Library. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
