Geneva Dorthey (Boster) Baker of Virgil, died on July 3, 2010, at Holiday Resort Nursing Home in Emporia at the age of 88.
She was born on April 16, 1922 at Neodesha, KS, the daughter of Harry and Chloe (Burger) Boster. Geneva grew up at Neodesha and attended local schools. She worked at various jobs throughout Kansas, Texas, and Oregon before moving back to Virgil, KS in 1974.
On July 12, 1940, Geneva married Kenneth L. Baker of Neodesha at Mound Valley, KS by minister George Bowers. Together they had 14 children.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth (LeRoy) Baker, Jr.; David Baker of Independence, KS; John Baker of Bend, OR; and Jerry Baker of Bend, OR; seven daughters, Judy Ledsome of Liberal, KS; Joyce Sharp of Wichita, KS; Etta Kerbow of Liberal, KS; Betty Martin of Holt, Florida; Carrol Brook of Madison, KS; Deborah Baker of Emporia, KS; and Janice Smith of Emporia; 30 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Brown of Fredonia, KS; and Mary Cooper of Stockton, Missouri; and one brother, Harry Boster of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth L. Baker; her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 9, 2010, at Fellowship Victory Church at 190th Rd and G Rd (Americus Road).
