Freda Eunice Ward of Eureka, died on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Eureka Nursing Center, at the age of 91.
She was born on May 13, 1917, in Fall River, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Mary Lucy (Guisinger) Mitchell. She was raised in the Fall River area and attended White Hall Country School. After her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper in Eureka.
On December 2, 1940, Freda was united in marriage to Alfred Ward in McPherson. They made their home in Toronto, where Freda worked at the grocery store. In the late 1960’s, Freda worked as a cook at the Eureka High School. She retired in the late 1970’s. Alfred preceded her in death on January 23, 2004.
Freda was a member of the Mothers Guidance Club and the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Donald Ward of Mulvane; one daughter, Marilyn Fuhlhage of Eureka; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Reverend Lloyd Stewart of the Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Nursing Center Activity Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
