Freda May Lacy, of Eureka, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Monday, May 29, 2006, at the age of 93.

She was born in Greenwood County, Kansas on October 24, 1912, the daughter of George “Ed” and Pearl (Key) Bonnette. She was raised on a farm southeast of Eureka.

On December 10, 1930, Freda was united in marriage to Milton J. “Mutt” Lacy in Fredonia. They made their home on a farm east of Eureka before moving to Climax where they ran a garage, gas station, and ice house. In the early 1940’s they moved to Wichita where Mutt and Freda worked at Boeing during World War II. After Mutt’s retirement from Coleman in 1976, they sold their home in Wichita and moved to Fall River Lake where they enjoyed fishing with family and friends. In 1992 they moved to Eureka.

Freda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bettie and Wallace Scott, two grandsons, Joe Scott, and Jeff Scott and his wife Rhonda, five great-grandchildren, Jeni, Kevin, Tony, Jill, and Tyler, and three great-great-grandchildren, Quade, Madison, and Kyron. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of seventy years, one son, Eldon Ray Lacy, and one brother, Louis “Bus” Bonnette.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 1, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Seymour of the First Christian Church of El Dorado officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made in her name to the Greenwood County Hospice or the Medicalodge Activity Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
