Frances Marie Smith

Frances Marie Smith of Towanda, died on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, at the age of 83.
She was born on March 11, 1935, in Hamilton, Kansas, the daughter of Johner Nathaniel and Edith (Bohard) McCoy. She was raised in Virgil and graduated from Virgil High School with the Class of 1953. On October 19, 1953, Frances was united in marriage to Dale Leon Smith in Virgil, Kansas. To this union, two children were born. The family moved frequently with Dale’s service in the Air Force. The family lived in South Carolina, Florida, Colorado, California, and Ohio.
She was a member of the Towanda Baptist Church.
Frances is survived by her children, Diana Smith of Topeka, Kansas; and Charles Smith of Towanda, Kansas; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Guzman of California; and Alice Lamb of Americus, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka. Interment will follow at Virgil Cemetery.
