Frances June “Pat” Chester, 74, of Eureka, died Sunday, September 24, 2006.
She was born on June 1, 1932, the daughter of Byron W. and Mary F. (Wyse) Lopp in Yates Center, Kansas. She moved to Eureka with her mother as a small child. All her schooling took place in Eureka, graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1950. She attended cosmetology school in Wichita and later attended Butler County Community College, majoring in accounting.
On September 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Richard Obe Francis. To this union were born four children. On July 20, 1979, she was united in marriage to William E. Chester. She spent her early married years as a homemaker and mother. She also worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for Francis Plumbing for many years. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Greenwood County Treasurer’s Office for eleven years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph R. Francis of Kansas City; James L. Francis of Emporia; and William P. Francis; and one daughter, Nancy L. Harris of Emporia; one grandson, Zachary C. Harris of Emporia; and one sister, M. Kathleen Straight of Wichita; and one brother, Anthony K. Straight of California. She was preceded in death by her parents and spouses.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Brazzle of the First Baptist Church of Madison officiating. Cremation has been effected. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
