Flossie Winifred Wilkinson, of Wichita, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at St. Francis – Via Christi Regional Medical Center, in Wichita, at the age of 92.
She was born on August 24, 1914, in Teterville, the daughter of Hoke and Ruby (Sanger) Smith. She was raised in the rural Teterville and Sallyards areas and attended local schools. She graduated from Reece High School with the class of 1932.
On January 20, 1934, she was united in marriage in Oswego, to George Thomas Wilkinson. They made their home in the rural Reece and Teterville areas until 1957, when they moved to El Dorado. In 1966 they moved to Manhattan where Flossie worked as an assistant to the Chairman of Veterinary Medicine of Kansas State University until her retirement in 1981. She was nominated Kansas State University employee of the year. Flossie was employed by Wal-Mart at the time of her death. George preceded her in death on February 12, 1978.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado and the American Legion Post #50 Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, Douglas L. Wilkinson of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 13, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado, with Pastor Bill O’Connell officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.
