Evelyn Isabell Corkery, of Neosho, Missouri, former Toronto resident, died at Medicalodge of Neosho on Monday, March 03, 2003, at the age of 83.
She was born on April 30, 1919, in Woodson County, Kansas, the daughter of Scott E. and Hattie (Moon) Adams. She attended school in Toronto and was a graduate of Toronto High School.
On November 24, 1938, Evelyn was united in marriage to Max Alden Corkery in El Dorado. They made their home in rural Toronto for a few years before Max began his career with the Halliburton Company. They moved throughout the state of Kansas with Max’s job, before settling in Elkhart for eighteen years. In 1987 Evelyn and Max returned to Toronto to retire. On April 22, 1997, Max preceded her in death. After his death Evelyn moved to Neosho to be closer to her family.
She was a member of the Toronto United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Corkery of Neosho, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and two sisters.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Toronto Cemetery with Reverend Jim Ulick officiating.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Toronto United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
