Esther Eileen Meyer
March 6, 1938 — March 9, 2004
Esther Eileen Meyer was born March 6, 1938 in Parker, Kansas to Enos and Ollie Van Royen. She went to her heavenly home from her earthly home in Eureka, on Tuesday, March 9, 2004.
She was married to Michael Meyer on June 10, 1956 and they lived in Severy when their daughters were born, later moving to Norwich, then to the Wichita area where their sons were born.
Esther worked as a certified nurse’s aide at St. Francis, Riverside, Wesley, and Wesley Rehabilitation hospitals in Wichita and retired February 28, 2000 after 28 years of service. She was preceded in death by her father, Enos Van Royen and her brother John William Van Royen.
She is survived by her loving husband Mike of the home; daughter’s and son’s-in-law, Peggy and Paul Smith of Haysville; Patty and David Tucker of Eureka; son’s and daughter’s-in-law, Michael III and JoLynn Meyer of Valley Center, and Mark and Sherri Meyer of Derby; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Phil Nicholson of Haysville, April Smith of Wichita, Ashley and Dillon Powell of Derby, Bo and Cord Tucker of Eureka, Kayla Meyer of Valley Center, Shannon Meyer of Valley Center, Megan Meyer of Valley Center; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Nicholson.
Esther was a member of the Valley Center Christian Church and after moving to Eureka, she attended the Reece Christian Church.
Memorials have been established in Esther’s name with Harry Hynes Hospice and Victory in the Valley. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Services are at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Koup Family Funeral Home, 121 N. Oak St., Eureka, Kansas with graveside services following at Reece Cemetery.
