Ernest Leroy “Ernie” Bogle, of Eureka, died on Thursday, July 17, 2003, at his residence at the age of 73.
He was born on March 12, 1930, in Hamilton, Kansas, the son of Raymond and Florence (Dewey) Bogle. He was raised in the Hamilton, Virgil, and Toronto areas and attended Hamilton Schools. He entered the United States Army in August of 1952, and served his country with honor and dignity, and was honorably discharged in August of 1954.
On December 31, 1957, Ernie was united in marriage to Doris Lewis in Eureka, Kansas. They made their home in Eureka. He worked in and around Greenwood County in the oil fields until 1975, when the family moved to Garden City, Kansas and he became superintendent for M.L. Brown Oil Company. In 1998, he retired and moved the family back to Eureka.
Ernie attended the Neal Evangelical Free Church of Neal, Kansas, and was a member of the VFW Post #2712 of Eureka, American Legion Post #50 of Eureka, and the Eagle’s of Garden City.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of the home, two daughters: Rita White of Eureka, Trudy Bogle of Holcomb, Kansas; three brothers: Jack Bogle of Yates Center, Earl Bogle of Emporia, and Calvin Bogle of Eureka; one sister: Joyce Dillon of Wichita; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 21, 2003, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas.
