Erma Elvira (Porter) Wallace, died on July 6, 2009 at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 91.
She was born on December 5, 1917, in Reece, the daughter of John and Viola (Gray) Porter. She graduated from LeRoy High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Dee Wallace on September 26, 1938. To this union were born two children. Erma had a passion for sewing, made all her own clothes, and taught many 4-H’ers to sew and some who become State Fair Champions.
She is survived by her husband, Dee, Jr. of the home; one son, Roger Wallace of Eureka; one daughter, Deanna Born of Los Olivos, California; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Porter of Virgil; and two sisters, Hazel Schadegg of Meade; and Corrine MacClaksey of Gridley. Erma was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 10, 2009 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka, with Reverend Rhonda K. Almond of the Christian & Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Christian & Congregational Women’s Fellowship. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
