Erma Lea Powell, of Eureka, died on January 25, 2007 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 77.
She was born on November 5, 1929 in Drumwright, Oklahoma the daughter of Leonard and Fay (Robb) Frazier. She was raised in Drumwright and graduated from the local schools. In 1955 she moved to Eureka with her husband who followed his job here. She then attended Babson College learning secretarial skills. She worked for the local school system and then went to work for Dr. John Basham as a receptionist.
In 1948 she married Ralph Ingram, he preceded her in death on July 15, 1974. On June 27, 1976 Erma married Austin Powell and they made their home in Eureka.
She was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene until it closed and she became a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband Austin of the home; three daughters, Mirah Dow of Eureka, Karen Edwards of Madison, Ralphan Greenwood of Eureka, one step-daughter Sherrill Powell of Eureka; two step-sons, Mike Powell of Abilene and David Powell of Emporia; eight grandchildren and eight-great-grandchildren; brothers, Leon Frazier of Surprise, Arizona, Kennith Frazier of Drumwright, Oklahoma and Gary Frazier of Houston, Texas; one sister Opal Davis of Perry, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 29, 2007 at Jefferson Street Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Hunter officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
