Enola Augusta Brown of El Dorado, formerly of rural Eureka, died on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in El Dorado, at the age of 93.
She was born on August 9, 1922, in the Union community of Greenwood County, the daughter of Floyd Jacob and Addie Jane (Steele) Gibson. She was raised in Toronto and attended local schools. On November 30, 1939, Enola was united in marriage to Homer Wallace Brown in Eureka. They made their home southwest of Eureka. She was an attendant of Jefferson Street Baptist Church and a member of the Greenwood County Historical Society, and helped organize the museum before and after construction. She was a homemaker. Homer preceded her in death on May 21, 2003.
Enola is survived by three children, Russell Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; Gary Brown of El Dorado; and Ruth Ann Peoples of Rose Hill; four grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Floyd Wayne Gibson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at the Jefferson Street Baptist Church in Eureka, with Pastor John Craighead officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitations hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.
