Elsie Marie (Brungardt) Thill, age 71, of Eureka, Kansas, passed away at her home on July 10, 2006.
She was born December 8, 1934, in La Crosse, Kansas to Fred and Veronica (Legleiter) Brungardt. At age six, the family moved to Galesburg, Kansas. She was a graduate of Galesburg High School, Chanute Junior College, Kansas State Teachers College, and Emporia State University.
On June 7, 1958, she married Leo Thill, in South Mound, Kansas. He survives of the home. Elsie taught school from 1954 to 1981 at Tonovay, Hamilton, and Eureka.
She was an active member of Kansas State Teachers Association, the Greenwood County Teachers Association, the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Sacred Heart Altar Society, Diocesan and National Council of Catholic Women, Town & Country Women’s Educational Club, Sorosis Clubs of Eureka and Hamilton, and Greenwood County Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Leo; daughter, Karen Kay Daley and husband, Patrick of Overland Park; brother, John Brungardt and wife, Evelyn of Galesburg; sister, Helen Robinson and husband, Walter of Galesburg; stepsisters, Doris Aley, Jean Wilcox, Marilyn Moore, and Linda Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers, Gilbert, James, Francis and Donald Brungardt; and a sister, Marie Brungardt.
Visitation will take place at Koup Family Funeral Home from 5 to 8 P.M., with a rosary at 7:30 P.M., on Wednesday, July 12, 2006. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church in Eureka. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons, Kansas at 3 P.M., Thursday.
