Ella Louise Whittaker, of Eureka, died at the Greenwood County Hospital on Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at the age of 83.
She was born in Moline, Kansas on December 24, 1919, the daughter of James William and Carrie Ella (Fergeson) Patteson. Louise was raised in Moline and graduated from Moline High School. After her schooling she worked in the aircraft industry during World War II.
On September 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to C. C. Whittaker in Moline, Kansas. They made their home in Severy and Moline before moving to Eureka in the late 1940’s. Louise worked for Dr. Watkins for several years after coming to Eureka. C. C. preceded her in death on November 5, 1997.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Congregational Church and EHU, was active with church youth, and was a Cub Scout Den Mother while her children were growing up.
She is survived by four sons, Clive Whittaker III of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Robert Whittaker of Augusta, Kansas, James Whittaker of Sabetha, Kansas, and Mike Whittaker of Eureka, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and five sisters.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, October 12, 2003, with the funeral services being held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 13, 2003, both at the Koup Family Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at a later date.
