Ella Laverne Platt, 82, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away Friday January 12, 2007, at Baxter Regional Hospital in Mountain Home.
She was born August 15, 1924, in Gilliam, Arkansas, to Frank & Cora (Dudley) Bray and raised in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
She married Clare Platt, Sr., on November 11, 1944, in Fairplay, Missouri. Laverne and Clare lived most of their married years in eastern Kansas, and Liberty, Missouri, before moving to Mountain Home. Of this marriage of 61 years, she gave birth to four sons and raised four other sons from Clare’s previous marriage.
Laverne retired from Sentinel Savings and Loan in North Kansas City, Missouri in 1987, and moved with Clare to Mountain Home, Arkansas shortly thereafter.
She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, traveling, arts and crafts, and most of all her family and friends. She will be truly missed by all that knew her.
Survivors include: sons, James & Nan of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Jack & Ronda of Manhattan, Kansas; and Preston & Nance of Kansas City, Kansas; step-sons, Clare Jr. & Sharon of Hamilton, Kansas; Clyde & Wanda of Newton, Kansas; and John & Dorothy of Liberty, Missouri; sister-in-laws, Zelma Lange of Wichita, Kansas; and Wilma Wallace of San Diego, California; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Clare Sr.; son, Franklin; step-son, Jerry; three sisters, Celestial Ackers, Leola Milam, and Leona Johnson; and three brothers, Lloyd Bray, Olen Bray, and Dibble Bray.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 19, 2007 at Koup Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas. Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery, Hamilton, Kansas.
