Elizabeth “Maxine” Johnson, of Wichita, died on August 13, 2003, at her residence, at the age of 76.
She was born on July 6, 1927, in Eureka, the daughter of Harry and Ruth (Raber) Rockley. She was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School with the class of 1946. She worked in the Eureka and El Dorado areas until her marriage to John Edward Lewis. He preceded her in death in 1960. On November 23, 1967, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Johnson in Hays. They made their home in the Hays and Russell areas. Kenneth preceded her in death on April 13, 1997. She continued to live in those areas until she became sick and moved to Wichita.
Maxine was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary of Russell.
She is survived by one daughter, Valerie Schrader of Wichita; two sons, Ronnie Johnson of Lawrence, Kansas, and Keith Johnson of Waldon, Kansas; one sister, Jean Fields of Higginsville, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband’s, and one daughter Terri Cole.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, August 16, 2003 at Greenwood Cemetery.
