Eleanor L. (Soule) Tucker-Jacoby
Eleanor Lulu Soule was born on December 1, 1926, at rural Rosalia, Kansas and died on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 after a long illness. When she was very young the family moved to Eureka, where they operated a hatchery for many years. Eleanor lived her entire life in the Eureka area. She worked for Otasco in Eureka for several years before being elected to the office of Clerk of the District Court for Greenwood County, a position she held for more than 20 years.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Sarah (Cronk) Soule; sisters, Carol Christine Soule, Sandra Jean Soule, Bertha Erickson, and Phyllis Enos, her first husband, Howard T. Tucker, and her second husband, Louis “Jake” Jacoby, and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her children, Linda M. (Tucker) Ryther; Margaret A. (Tucker) Hull; and David L. Tucker; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Betty Uhl; Sue Thole; Joan Talkington; Thedda Betten; Sharon and Earl Urton; Karen and John Nordmeyer; and Florence & Sandy Sellers; and four brothers; Merle Soule; Jerry & Marilyn Soule; Bill & Kay Soule; and Dick & Patricia Soule; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 3, 2013 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Nancy Mitchell, Interim Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow at Economy Cemetery, Prospect Township, Butler County.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Historical Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
